Tribal participation festival celebrated in Lucknow on Birsa Munda Jayanti, tribes from all over the country showed the colors of art and culture.

Tribal Participation Festival is being organized in Lucknow on the 150th birth anniversary of Birsa Munda. Tribal communities across the country are showcasing their art, culture, crafts and cuisine. Arunachal Pradesh is the participating state and the exhibition of tribal masks is the main attraction.

Lucknow. On the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Dharti Aba Birsa Munda, Tribal Participation Festival is being organized at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, Lucknow. Under the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, this big platform has been given to the tribal communities from all over the country to showcase their art, culture, crafts and food. This year Arunachal Pradesh is joining as the participating state, while the exhibition of traditional masks of tribes from across the country remains the major attraction of the festival. Tribal artists will also be honored in the program.

Active participation of tribal community from across the country

People of tribal community from Lakhimpur Kheri, Bahraich, Shravasti, Gonda, Jhansi, Lalitpur and other states of Uttar Pradesh are participating in this tribal pride festival organized under the leadership of CM Yogi. Atul Dwivedi, Director of Uttar Pradesh Folk Tribal Institute, said that the objective of the festival is to connect the art, culture and food of the tribal society with the mainstream. Arunachal Pradesh is the partner state this year under cultural exchange and a team from UP will also participate in the programs organized in Arunachal Pradesh from November 15. For the first time, the Dhurva tribe of Orissa is also participating in the festival.

A unique confluence of crafts, cuisine, art and dance

The festival, which runs from 13 to 18 November, features stalls of tribal crafts, textiles, artefacts and delicacies. There will be tribal folk dances and art presentations every day from 5 pm to 9 pm. Bardoishikhla of Odisha, Yak dance of Arunachal Pradesh, Maganihar singing of UP, Mandri of Uttarakhand and Nevasi, Kalbeliya and Sapera dance of Rajasthan will be special attractions. On November 17, the play ‘Dharti Aab’ based on the life of Birsa Munda will be staged.

Unique exhibition of tribal masks from India and abroad

The biggest attraction of the festival is the exhibition of traditional masks of tribes from different states of India including Nepal, Bhutan, Tibet, Fiji. These masks are used in religious traditions, dances and festivals in the tribal society. Tribal art works, crafts, rangoli, clay art and tribal literature are also being displayed in the programme.

The event is being organized in collaboration with many institutions

Tribal Partnership Utsav is being organized in collaboration with Tribal Development Department, Uttar Pradesh Institute of Folk and Tribal Culture, Culture and Tourism Department, TRI UP, NCZCC, NTPC, State Bank of India and Canara Bank.
