In view of the increasing cases of Cyber Crime, the Central Government has taken strict action to protect the general public and has blocked 6 lakh 69 thousand SIM cards and 1 lakh 32 thousand IMEIs. Police officials say that scammers committing digital fraud were using these SIM cards, which is why the government took action without wasting time and decided to block them.
According to reports, the government took action at the right time due to which Rs 3431 crore has been saved. This step of the government has brought a sigh of relief to the people to a great extent.
This is how the government saved Rs 3431 crore
Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar told in the Rajya Sabha that, to prevent financial fraud and misappropriation of money by fraudsters, Citizen Financial Cyber Fraud Reporting and Management System was started in 2021 under I4C. Till now, financial amount of more than Rs 3431 crore has been saved in more than 9.94 lakh complaints.
Cyber Crime Helpline Number
The government had also started a helpline number 1930 for complaining about cases related to cyber crime. You can file a fraud complaint through Chakshu, a service started by the Department of Telecommunication.
For complaint one has to go to https://sancharsaathi.gov.in/ and then click on Citizen Centric Services on the site. After this, after clicking on Report Suspected Fraud Communication option, Continue for Reporting option will appear on the next page. You have to click on this option.
In the next step, some important questions are asked like how you have been cheated through SMS, call or WhatsApp. After answering some important questions, your complaint will be registered online. To avoid cyber crime, always remember not to click on unknown links and create a strong password.
