There is a pace in the work of providing clean water to every home 24×7, Water Minister Atishi inspected in Palla – Khel Ja – Khel Ja – Khel Ja

The Arvind Kejriwal government of Delhi is working on a war footing to provide clean water to every household 24×7. In this regard, Water Minister Atishi continued the inspection for the third consecutive week, he visited the Master Balancing Reservoir and Flood Plain Project located at Palla on Wednesday. In Palla, Kejriwal government is preparing UGR of 8 MGD which will be able to supply 40 MGD water daily at its full capacity.

During the inspection, Water Minister Atishi instructed the officials to finish the remaining work soon. He issued orders to start this reservoir soon. Delhi Government’s Palla Flood Plain Project has been successful for the fourth consecutive year and an increase of up to 1.2 meters has been recorded in the ground water level. Under the Palla Flood Plain Project, 740 million gallons of groundwater has been recharged in the pond spread over 26 acres in the year 2022-23.

What is Palla Flood Plain Project?

Palla Flood Plain Project is spread over 40 acres. A pond has been built in 26 acres. Flood water is stored here, which is being used to increase the groundwater level in Delhi. Under the Palla Flood Plain Project, 740 million gallons of groundwater has been recharged in the pond spread over 26 acres in the year 2022-23.

The Water Minister said that the Yamuna river passing through the capital floods every year during the monsoon, in which crores of liters of water gets washed away. In such a situation, four years ago the Kejriwal government started the eco-friendly Palla Project in the plain near the river to collect this excess flood water passing through the river during monsoon. It is being used to increase groundwater in the capital.

33 piezometers have also been installed to determine the amount of rise in groundwater level. The objective of the Palla Flood Plain Project is to store flood water so that this stored water can be used throughout the year to improve the groundwater level. Successful results of this project have been seen which proves that the ground water is being recharged rapidly through this project.

Delhiites will get help from water harvesting

During this, Water Minister Atishi said that this project will prove to be an excellent example not only for Delhi but for the entire country suffering from drought and water shortage states. Under the project of installing 200 tube wells in Palla flood area, 60 tube wells have been installed so far. This will help in removing water shortage in many parts of the city.

Water Minister Atishi said that after water harvesting, the groundwater level is continuously increasing. Here the movement of groundwater towards the city is a good sign. In such a situation, the government plans to install 200 tube wells here. The remaining ones will be installed soon. The water from here will help in meeting the demand of water in many parts of the city. Clean water will be available to every needy.
