The Tata Punch EV would be the next big launch from Tata Motors and this EV will slot in below the Nexon EV as the most affordable electric SUV on sale in India.
The Punch EV will come with two battery pack sizes namely medium range and long range. The long range Punch EV is expected to offer a healthy range of 325 km per charge for the 30 kWh battery pack version. The Punch EV will be an SUV alternative to the likes of the Tiago EV and the Tigor EV.
The medium range Tata Punch EV on the other hand is likely to have slightly lesser range. Expect power to be upwards of 125 bhp too. The Punch EV will be more premium than the Nexon EV with styling changes including an EV specific grille along with wheels with aero inserts plus Nexon EV like LED headlamps with a connected light bar. The upcoming Tata Punch EV is also expected to get a bigger touchscreen than the petrol Punch with more features while it could even get a new steering wheel with the illuminated logo.
Expect the Punch EV to sport premium features like a sunroof, wireless charging and connected car tech. Importantly it would also be the first Tata EV to have the charging port location being placed at the front. In terms of the price, the Punch EV would be slotted below the Nexon EV but above the Tigor/Tiago EV with aggressive pricing kept in mind. Tata already has a lead in the EV race with its various offerings below the Rs 25 lakh space and this micro SUV will further expand its sales numbers with more buyers turned towards more affordable EVs at a mainstream level.
