Amid India’s World Cup 2023 heroics, the reaction from the other side of the border has been quite positive.
Cricket experts from Pakistan like Wasim Akram, Shoaib Malik have hailed the Indian team for their excellent performance in the tournament.
But not all of the reaction has been positive, and the negative ones have been ludicrous.
Ahsan Raza questioned if ICC provided the Indian pacers a different ball, and now another named Sikander Bakht has raised another hilarious accusation. Bakht, during a TV show, accused India captain Rohit Sharma of throwing the coin too far from the captain’s standing area.
Sikander Bakht accuses Rohit Sharma
“Shararat kar sakta hoon? Mai ek sawal kar raha hoon agar hum dikha sake toss ke waqt. Rohit Sharma jab toss karte hai vo dur fenkte hai aur dusra captain jaa ke kabhi nahi dekhta ki vo sahi usne call kiya.
(Can I give you a conspiracy theory? During the toss, Rohit Sharma throws the coin far from the range of any opposition captain. Thus, the opposition captain cannot go and cross-check the toss call of his own),” Bakht was quoted as saying on Geo News.
Aakash Chopra, Irfan Pathan give befitting reply
This serious yet baffling allegation from Bakht has caught the attention of two former India players, who have given a befitting reply.
Aakash Chopra, who is known for his clear-cut analysis and comments took to X and made a cryptic post while replying to the Bakht video.
“Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional,” Chopra wrote. The metaphor comes from the context that clearly depicts the lack of maturity from Bakht’s baseless claims.
Irfan Pathan also took to his own X profile and accused Bakht of getting cheap publicity by making allegations against India.
“It’s called blame Indian cricket and get famous,” Pathan said which has been a reality in Pakistan as many of their ex-players take this route to have a sudden rise in publicity and screen time.
