After the violence on Wednesday in Samravata village of Tonk district of Rajasthan, an atmosphere of tension prevailed in the area on Thursday also. The accused MLA candidate Naresh Meena has been arrested by the police. In protest against this arrest, supporters of Naresh Meena set fire to the state highway outside Samravata village. Supporters of Naresh Meena raised slogans against the police administration. On Wednesday, SDM Amit Chaudhary was slapped by Naresh Meena, after which the police took Naresh Meena into custody. In protest against this, violence broke out in Samravata village at night. The miscreants set more than 100 vehicles on fire.
There is tremendous anger in the RAS Association regarding the incident of slapping SDM Amit Chaudhary. In protest against the incident, RAS Association has announced to go on pen down strike across the state. In support of RAS officers, Ministerial Employees Union, Village Development Officer, Tehsildar Union, Kanungo Employees Union along with Sarpanch Union have also announced to support the strike.
Memorandum submitted to the District Collector
People associated with RAS Association in Barmer submitted a memorandum in the name of the Chief Minister to the District Collector. They have warned of continuing the strike until the strictest action is not taken against the accused. Jodhpur Divisional Commissioner is visiting Barmer on Thursday. During this time, the Divisional Commissioner is scheduled to meet the general public in a block level public hearing in Barmer. In such a situation, RAS officers have decided not to attend this public hearing.

On Wednesday night, miscreants targeted the police by pelting stones and arson. The police has arrested Naresh Meena in this case. Naresh Meena, while admitting the attack on the police, said that yes, I had killed, I had killed because the SDM was an agent of BJP, he was trying to defeat me in the entire area. Naresh Meena’s argument is that when the administration does not listen, then slapping becomes a compulsion. Naresh Meena said that he had not escaped from police custody and he never absconded.
