Salute to Savita’s thinking! Flour mill machine made in tricycle, now disabled people will go door to door to grind flour

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman visited Bihar on Friday. His program was in Darbhanga and Madhubani districts of the state. He flagged off a specially made tricycle for the disabled in Darbhanga, which is not only battery operated but is also very convenient. The idea behind this entire campaign is of Professor Savita Jha, a resident of Madhubani and Professor of CVS of Delhi University and founder of CSTS.

Savita Jha tells that the idea of making it came when she went to her village. She says she had to go somewhere. When she started leaving, her mother told her to drink Sattu and leave. During the conversation with my mother, I came to know that someone grinding Sattu had come to their door and had gone away after grinding Sattu. Savita says that when her mother told her that it was the Sattu grinder who had come not at the door, she found it a bit interesting. She had then decided that she would further expand this concept in a different way so that the society could also benefit from it.

The plan was to donate something different

Savita says, generally people donate the same things to schools, economically weaker women or other people, which are always donated. Like someone gives clothes and bed. Some people give sanitary pads to girls, but my effort was to donate some things so that they become a means of livelihood for them. It was settled in my mind that something has to be done regarding this tricycle mill, so that the society can get benefit in the coming days.

The idea was to make it lighter

Savita tells that I had decided that I have to start it, but the problem was that the current mill in the market is quite heavy. There is difficulty in operating and transporting them, whereas my idea was that it should be designed in such a way that it would be very easy to operate and carry. My thinking from the beginning was that it should be made in such a way that it can be used especially by women.

Professor Savita says, I also had this thought in my mind that if the mill is heavy or typical, then I will not feel comfortable in operating it. If it is prepared for a disabled person then he will face more problems. Therefore, my effort was that its weight should be very less and there should be no problem in operating it. When I prepared a plan for this in my mind, then I got the information that the Union Finance Minister is coming and about 14 banks are participating in her program.

Contacted the startup

Professor Savita says, after this I thought about it from my level and contacted a startup. We prepared and sent them the design of this special tricycle mill and told them that it has to be made light, so that women do not face any problem in operating it. My effort was to make it at a very low cost, so that more and more people can be connected to it and more and more people can take advantage of it. Apart from this, I wanted some other facilities also. Then we completed them all.

work for three hours at a time

Professor Savita says, this mobile tricycle mill has two batteries, one of which is a backup battery. Its capacity is to work continuously for three hours at a time. Apart from gram, wheat and spices can also be ground easily with this special tricycle mill. It can be recharged when the battery runs out.

Took help of Facebook also

Professor Savita says, one of the problems we faced was that we wanted to find people who really deserve it. Who can take advantage of it. For this I took the help of social media and shared this in my Facebook group. In this, I had also fixed the criteria that only those disabled people who are at least 50% or above will be provided this special tricycle mill. Special care was also taken that its benefits should be extended to people of every section and religion of the society.

Booking can be done through app

Professor Savita tells that in this campaign of mine, I got full support from a young man named Kartik Jha. He understood everything I said. He himself is associated with a venture. The special thing is that Karthik himself had suggested that if someone has got this special tricycle then how will people get the information? Why not connect it through an app, so that the person in need can call this tricycle mill through the app and get the thing he needs grinded.

expenditure above one lakh

Professor Savita says, the most important thing in this entire campaign is that approximately Rs 1 lakh 20 thousand has been spent in building this special tricycle mill. Whoever it is being given to, it is being given completely free of cost. That means he doesn’t have to pay a single penny. Savita tells that the startup which has developed it has been funded by SIDBI under CSR. The rest of the support is provided by our organization.
