Relief to AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan in Waqf Board case, court orders his release

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Amanatullah Khan has got a big relief from Rouse Avenue Court. The court has refused to take cognizance of the supplementary charge sheet filed against him in the money laundering case. The court has ordered his release.

What did the court say?

The court said that there is enough evidence to prosecute Amanatullah Khan, but there is no sanction to prosecute him, hence cognizance is refused. Rouse Avenue Court further said that Amanatullah Khan will be immediately released from judicial custody on a surety bond of Rs 1 lakh and one surety of like amount. The court further said that there is no evidence to prosecute Maryam Siddiqui.

There are assembly elections in Delhi next year and before that, Amanatullah Khan has got this relief. Amanatullah is MLA from Okhla. He is arrested in a money laundering case related to the alleged scam in Delhi Waqf Board.

What is the allegation against Amanatullah?

The court had earlier reserved its order regarding whether or not to take cognizance of the supplementary charge sheet. The court had said that it would give its order on November 14. Amanatullah Khan and Maryam Siddiqui are named in the ED chargesheet. Amanatullah Khan is accused of financial irregularities when he was the chairman of Delhi Waqf Board. ED had arrested Amanatullah Khan on 2 September.
