RCB’s flop bowler roared in front of the 20th ranked team, did not give a single run in 4 overs, gave New Zealand the best win

In the 39th match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea (NZ vs PNG) clashed. Both the teams faced each other at the Brian Lara Cricket Stadium in Trinidad. After winning the toss, captain Kane Williamson invited the PNG team to bat first, after which the team was all out for 78 runs. In response, the Kiwi team put 79 runs on the scoreboard for the loss of three wickets. With this, the team won the match (NZ vs PNG) by 7 wickets.

NZ vs PNG: Lockie Ferguson’s bowling created a ruckus

  • After winning the toss, New Zealand (NZ vs PNG) captain Kane Williamson decided to bowl first, and fast bowler Lockie Ferguson left no stone unturned to prove him right.
  • He wreaked havoc with his bowling against the batsmen of Papua New Guinea and created history. PNG had to struggle a lot against the Kiwi bowlers.
  • Only three batsmen could score in double digits. Charles Amini scored 17 runs, Sese Bau scored 12 and Norman Vanua scored 14 runs. Tony Ura, Chad Soper and Semo Kamea could score only one run.

Papua New Guinea innings ended at 78 runs

  • Assad Vala was out after scoring six runs and Kiplin Doriga was out after scoring five runs. Hiri Hiri scored 7 runs. Lockie Ferguson bowled brilliantly for New Zealand. He bowled four overs, all of which were maidens.
  • They got three wickets without conceding any runs. Trent Bolt and Tim Southee took two wickets each. Mitchell Santner took one wicket.

NZ vs PNG: New Zealand wins

  • The New Zealand team achieved the target of 79 runs given by Papua New Guinea (NZ vs PNG) in just 12.2 overs. However, during this time their team lost wickets. Opener Finn Allen was out without opening the account.
  • Rachin Ravindra returned to the pavilion after scoring six runs. Dwayne Conway contributed 35 runs. In the end, the team won the match due to the unbeaten partnership of Kane Williamson and Daryl Mitchell.
  • Both of them scored 25 runs together. Kane Williamson scored 18 runs, while Daryl Mitchell remained unbeaten on 19 runs. Kabua Wagi-Moreya took two wickets for Papua New Guinea.
  • Semo Kamea took the wicket. Anyway, this match was a formality for both the teams. Papua New Guinea and New Zealand were already out of the Super-8.
