What is food diplomacy?

Food diplomacy means using food to increase mutual understanding, trust and harmony between countries. Just as leaders improve relations through talks, agreements and events, food is also a cultural and emotional means of connecting countries. In this, the traditional cuisine, taste and food culture of a country is presented to the world in an attractive way. Like serving special food in international conferences, organizing food-fests in embassies, or making a country’s food popular in foreign countries. This not only strengthens cultural identity but also has a positive impact on tourism, business and political relations.

Chef Sanjeev Kapoor said this

While talking to TV9 Bharatvarsha, Sanjeev Kapoor said that whenever foreign leaders come to India, special care is taken of their food and drinks. He told that whenever Putin comes to India, Indian dishes are prepared keeping his preferences in mind. The cultural bridge between the two countries is further strengthened through food.
