Importance of Tilak on forehead
Recently, a devotee asked Maharaj ji whether applying Tilak is a show off or not and what is the importance of applying Tilak on the forehead, because you also apply Tilak on your entire forehead. On this question, Premanand Maharaj gave a very beautiful answer and said that applying Tilak is not a show, but a symbol of our worship, our faith and devotion towards God.
Why does Premanand Maharaj apply Tilak?
Premanand Maharaj said, “The sandalwood tilak we have applied on our forehead is not for show, but in the Acharya tradition, it has been ordered to create a tilak on the forehead. The tilak applied on our forehead is not a decoration, but an offering to Radha Rani. Wearing a tilak on the forehead is a sign of devotion.”
Symbol of connection with God
Premanand Maharaj further told that the bracelet we have tied has been given by our Guru, the garland has been given by the Guru and the clothes have also been given by our Guru. All these are symbols of our worship and not show off. All these things are signs of our devotion, symbols of connection with God. Maharaj Ji said, “If we think that we should not wear Tilak or Kanthi, so that people do not consider us pretentious, then our worship will remain incomplete and it will be insulting.”
