Ghazipur in Uttar Pradesh is such a unique bridge where people climb and descend with the help of wooden stairs. The bridge over the Beso river at Sarai Sadkar in Shadiabad has been hanging in the air for the last ten years. The Beso river flows in Sarai Sadkargaon of Shadiabad and the then Samajwadi Party MLA Subba Ram laid the foundation stone of construction of a bridge on this river at a cost of crores of rupees. The foundation stone laying work was done.
Although the work of building the bridge has started, it has not been completed till date. In such a situation, this bridge is still swinging in the air. Along with the villagers, this unique bridge has also been waiting for the last seven years to become a link road, but there is no hope of it being built.
The foundation stone of the bridge was laid on the Beso river.
In view of the problem of people’s movement during the tenure of SP government, the then MLA Subbaram had laid the foundation stone of this bridge on Beso river. The construction of the bridge started with full enthusiasm and the bridge was almost ready, but with the change of government in 2017, the work on the bridge stopped. In such a situation, from then till today the bridge is swinging in the air. According to the information, when there is less water in the river, people enter it and come here and there. When there is more water in the river, people climb the bridge with the help of wooden ladders and get down with the help of ladders on the other side.
Villagers say that many times demands have been made from the officials to the public representatives to build communication roads on both sides of the bridge, but no hearing is done. Residents of Sarai Sadkar village said that their lands were also used to build the bridge and they were not compensated. Because of this, the villagers stopped the construction of the bridge at that time, but the people of the department have not taken any action yet.
Construction of bridge stopped midway
Apart from this, the construction of a bridge at a cost of crores of rupees on Bhaisahi river to connect Kor village of Mardah and Gajendrapur village of Mau was also started 12 years ago. The approach towards Ghazipur was left several feet deep with pebbles, while the approach towards Mau was left with a pit several feet deep due to it not being built. With the construction of the bridge, people of villages like Kor, Nakhatpur, Bijora, Mustafabad, Nevada, Bhojpur, Mirzapur etc. of the district will save both time and labour.
