‘One last time’: Rohit Sharma’s ‘signing-off’ post after Australia ODI series sparks buzz

New Delhi: Rohit Sharma signed off from Australia on a high with a memorable ton in what potentially could be his final outing for India Down Under. Rohit slammed a brilliant knock of unbeaten 121 runs to help India beat Australia by 9 runs in the inconsequential 3rd ODI in Sydney on Sunday and avoid a clean sweep in the three-match series.

It was vintage Rohit and Virat Kohli on display as the duo combined to share an unbroken 168-run stand and take India home in the 237-run chase in front of a packed Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). While Rohit notched up his 33rd ODI ton en route to his unbeaten 121, Kohli roared back to form with an unbeaten 74 after bagging back-to-back ducks in the first two games.

A lot was said about his form and future after Rohit flopped in the 1st ODI against Australia in Perth. However, the Hitman bounced back strongly with two brilliant knocks in the last two matches to bag the Player of the Series award. He scored a gritty 73 in the 2nd ODI and followed it up with a ton in the 3rd ODI to finish with 202 runs in the three-match series at an average of 101.

As he signed off from Australia and headed home, Rohit shared a post on social media which sparked buzz. “One last time, signing off from Sydney,” Rohit said in a tweet, with a picture of him leaving Australia.
