The last match of the 3-match ODI series between New Zealand and England was played at Sky Stadium in Wellington. This match was very low scoring, but in the end all limits of excitement were crossed. To achieve a small target, New Zealand had to work hard and managed to win in the last overs. With this, the Kiwi team defeated England 3-0 in this series, that is, it managed to clean sweep the series. The special thing was that New Zealand made a clean sweep of England in ODI after 42 years. Earlier this feat was seen in 1983.
England’s batting continues to flop
New Zealand won the toss in the match and decided to bowl first, which proved to be correct. England lost its top-4 batsmen on the score of just 31 runs. After this the sequence of wickets did not stop and the visiting team lost 7 wickets at 102 runs. However, Jamie Overton played an important inning of 68 runs and took the team beyond 200 runs. Apart from him, Brayden Carse also scored 36 runs. Earlier, Jos Buttler contributed 38 runs, due to which the England team was all out after scoring 222 runs in 40.2 overs.
On the other hand, amazing bowling was seen from the fast bowlers of New Zealand. Blair Tickner took 4 wickets for 64 runs in 10 overs. At the same time, Jacob Duffy managed to take 3 wickets. Jack Foulkes also got 2 successes and made one of Mitchell Santner’s batsmen his victim.
New Zealand somehow increased its target
New Zealand had a good start in reply to the target of 223 runs. A partnership of 78 runs was seen for the first wicket. But after this the team’s innings faltered.
