Popular Tamil Filmmaker AR Murugadoss had generated a lot of buzz when he announced that he has signed actor Sivakarthikeyan for his next project.
It was reported that the film, tentatively titled as SK23, would be a big-scale action entertainer, and that actress Mrunal Thakur was roped in to play the female lead of the film. Now in a major development, rumours are abuzz that Murugadoss has managed a casting coup of sorts – by signing Mohanlal and Vidyut Jamwal for the project.
Murugadoss’ next to be an actioner with social messaging
If the reports are true, the updated casting of the film definitely garners far more curiosity about the film’s subject and storyline. According to a few reports, the film will have an additional layer of social reforms underneath its surface-level treatment of a mainstream action potboiler.
The film is slated to go on floors in January 2024, only after Sivakartikeyan completes his shoot for the film being directed by Rajkumar Periyswamy, who is known for his 2017 film Rangoon. Popular Tamil music director Anirudh Ravichander has been reportedly roped in to compose music for the film.

Murugadoss’ upcoming film is not the only big vehicle Mohanlal would be a part of – the veteran Malayalam actor will also be seen headlining Vrushubha, the pan-Indian film that also launches the acting career of Sanjay Kapoor’s daughter Shanaya Kapoor, and Malaikottai Vaaliban directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery. Additionally, Mohanlal will be seen in the Lucifer sequel titled L2: Empuraan, which is director by Prithviraj Sukumaran.
