Maithili Thakur leading from Alinagar: Know her age, assets, education and other details

Maithili Thakur Bihar Election 2025: Folk singer Maithili Thakur has been placed in a strong position in the Alinagar Assembly constituency, according to early trends. The popular Maithili and Bhojpuri singer, who’s celebrated for her deep cultural roots, has been projected as one of the youngest and most talked-about candidates in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections.

Her candidature has been placed in Alinagar, a constituency in Darbhanga district known for its culturally diverse population and layered political history. Although the seat has generally leaned towards the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), political currents shifted in 2020 when Mishri Lal Yadav secured victory under the Vikassheel Insaan Party before aligning with the BJP.

Who is Maithili Thakur?

Born on 25 July 2000, Maithili Thakur has emerged as a prominent youth face for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Her decision to step into politics is being viewed as a strategic move by the party to strengthen its cultural and youth appeal in the Mithilanchal region. The poll debutant joined the BJP barely a month before the elections, citing her desire to “serve Bihar.” Soon after her nomination, she remarked, “Whatever job the party assigns to me, I will do it with full dedication.”

This year, the spotlight has turned towards a fierce contest between the viral folk singer and RJD’s Binod Mishra. The latter stood as runner-up in the 2020 election and is relying on his ground-level connections and his focus on employment, welfare schemes, and rural development. In contrast, Maithili’s campaign has been driven by her celebrity influence and popularity among younger voters.

Maithili’s journey from a village in Madhubani to the political stage has been shaped by both cultural dedication and academic discipline.
