Maharashtra: BJP at 148, Congress at 103, know which party is contesting on how many seats?

The process of filing nominations for Maharashtra Assembly elections ended on Tuesday, because October 29 was the last date for filing nominations. All the parties seem fully prepared, where it has now become clear which party is contesting on how many seats in Maharashtra’s 288 seats. In Maharashtra, BJP is contesting the maximum number of seats, while Congress’s seats have reduced slightly this time as compared to last time.

BJP will contest elections on 148 assembly seats in Maharashtra. Whereas Congress is contesting elections on 103 seats. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena has fielded its candidates on 80 seats, while Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s NCP has announced the names of 53 candidates. Apart from this, 5 seats were given to other Mahayuti allies, while no decision was taken on two segments.

Congress has maximum seats in MVA

In the opposition Mahavikas Aghadi i.e. MVA alliance, Congress has got the maximum of 103 seats. After this, Uddhav Thackeray led Shiv Sena (UBT) is contesting on 89 seats and Sharad Pawar’s SP is fielding its candidates on 87 seats. The remaining 6 seats have been given to the allied parties of Mahavikas Aghadi, while no decision has been taken yet on three assembly constituencies.

8 thousand candidates filed nomination

About 8 thousand candidates from the ruling and opposition camp parties have filed their nominations for 288 assembly seats. A statement issued by the office of the state Chief Electoral Officer said that 7,995 candidates have filed 10,905 nominations with the Election Commission (EC). The process of filing nominations started from October 22.

Now today, on October 30, there will be verification and scrutiny of nomination papers and withdrawal of candidature. Next month, voting will be held in a single phase on 20th November and the results will be declared on 23rd November, in view of which all the parties have also started campaigning.
