BJP or Congress, who is ahead?
When the counting started, there was a tough contest on this seat between Ashish Shelar (BJP) and Asif Zakaria (Congress), but now Ashish is seen leading by a huge margin. Till the time of writing the news, he was ahead by about 25000 votes. His lead over Congress candidate Asif Zakaria is pointing towards BJP’s victory.
BJP is in control since last 10 years
Bandra West seat has been held by Ashish Shelar for the last 10 years. This time too he was being said to be a contender for victory, which also seems to be true. After delimitation in 2008, this area became known as Bandra West. Earlier this area came under Bandra Assembly only.
Baba Siddiqui’s seat has also been there
This seat has also been the seat of Baba Siddiqui. He was shot dead recently. Lawrence Bishnoi gang took responsibility for this. He is considered close to Salman Khan. After Siddiqui’s murder, Salman’s security was increased, he even came to cast his vote amidst tight security. However, Siddiqui won the 2009 assembly elections on a Congress ticket. At present, BJP’s Ashish Shelar is the MLA from here since 2014.
