We often associate the lanes of Delhi bustling with parathas, chaat and even momos or Hyderabad for its famous Mughlai flavours and its legacy of biryani. Yet on the global stage, it was none of the cities which made it to the top but the ‘City of Dreams- Mumbai’, ranked among the Top 5 Best Food Cities in the World on TasteAtlas’100. Mumbai has always won hearts with its iconic dishes and chaats such as sweet-spicy crunchy bhel puri, lip-smacking pav bhaji, the OG vada pav, and a comforting plate of ragda pattice or the iconic modak.

According to TasteAtlas, Naples has been named the world’s best food city for 2026. It ranked first out of 18,828 cities, based on more than 590,000 food ratings for over 16,000 dishes. The guide says that Naples, the birthplace of pizza, has one of Italy’s most important food traditions.

Neapolitan pizza—with its thin, airy crust and simple, high-quality toppings—is the city’s signature dish. Naples is also known for pizza fritta, a popular deep-fried street snack, and pastries like the famous sfogliatella. TasteAtlas adds that the city’s food experience is enhanced by its lively markets, open-air kitchens, and chefs who keep traditional methods alive while giving each dish a unique local touch.
