The festival of happiness Diwali became an eclipse for a couple. Husband and wife were bringing firecrackers and gas cylinder to celebrate Diwali but the husband died when the cylinder exploded. His wife was badly injured. The injured woman was immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment. The woman is undergoing treatment in the hospital, she is still fighting between life and death.
Surendra, a resident of Sisamau area of Kanpur, along with his wife had gone to the market on moped on Thursday to buy some goods for Diwali. While coming back, he had a small gas cylinder and some firecrackers in his hand. As soon as Surendra reached near the house, a cylinder exploded outside the house, killing Surendra.
As soon as people heard the sound of the explosion, they reached the spot and somehow took Surendra’s wife to the hospital. Surendra’s wife is still fighting between life and death. Immediately on receiving information about the blast, the police team reached the spot and started investigation. The explosion was so strong that Surendra’s moped was completely destroyed and vehicles parked nearby were also damaged.
DCP Dinesh Tripathi said that the news of gas cylinder explosion is only coming to light now. Investigation is being done at different points. Surendra has died and his wife is undergoing treatment. It is also being investigated as to how such a cylinder burst. On getting information about the incident, BJP candidate Suresh Awasthi and SP MLA Amitabh Bajpai also reached the spot.
Police believe that at present the matter of cylinder bursting on its own has come to light. Although it was a small gas cylinder. It is also being investigated whether the intensity of the blast had increased due to the presence of firecrackers together. Due to which Surendra lost his life. The explosion was so strong that one of the hands of the deceased went away. The bike parked nearby also got damaged.
