Kabaddi player Tejpal Singh murdered in broad daylight, first beaten brutally and then shot in the chest

Chandigarh: A national level Kabaddi player was shot dead by miscreants in Ludhiana, Punjab. The deceased has been identified as 26-year-old Tejpal Singh. The incident took place in broad daylight on Friday near the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) office of Ludhiana Rural in Jagraon, Punjab, leaving the local people shocked. Tejpal Singh hailed from Gidderwindi village near Jagraon and was a national level Kabaddi player. This incident happened when he was going with his two friends on Hari Singh Hospital Road.

Murdered by being stopped while going with friends

When he was going with his friends, a group of 5-6 people stopped him and first beat him with sticks. Then, one of the gang took out his revolver and shot Tejpal in the chest and fled from there. Tejpal’s friends immediately took him to a nearby hospital, but it is said that by then he had died.

SSP Ankur Gupta said that old enmity could be behind the murder of Tejpal Singh. The accused have been identified and teams have been sent to arrest them. He also said that the CCTV footage of the incident site is being examined. The crime scene is 45 kilometers from the district headquarters. According to police and eyewitnesses, Tejpal had come to Jagraon for personal reasons and when he was going with two of his friends on Hari Singh Hospital Road, a group of five to six people stopped them. The attackers first beat him brutally. During this quarrel, one of them took out a revolver and shot him in the chest.
