“Jasprit Bumrah ke Abbu”- Sahibzada Farhan shamelessly applauds insult

Pakistani cricketer Sahibzada Farhan has been applauded by the Pakistan fans, calling him out as ‘Bumrah ke Abbu.’ The Pakistan opener hit sixes off Bumrah during the Asia Cup fixture, which seemed to be his biggest achievement in his T20 career.

Pakistan hosted South Africa for the third T20I match on Saturday evening at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Pakistan defeated South Africa in a three-match series as they came from behind to seal the series 2-1.

“I am happy with the come-from-behind series win. We were 1-0 down, so it was a great effort by the players to win the next two,” the Pakistan skipper, Salman Agha, expressed satisfaction with their comeback in the T20I series.

“Jasprit Bumrah ke abbu”: Pakistan fans troll Bumrah to laud Sahibzada Farhan

During the final game in the Pakistan vs South Africa series at the Gaddafi Stadium, a section of home fans targeted the Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah and insulted them with derogatory remarks.

Cricketer Sahibzada Farhan was fielding near the boundary line, and just at that time, the Pakistan fans in the stands attempted to hype the player by calling out the names of the Indian pacer. They made loud cheers, saying, “Jasprit Bumrah k abbu.”

The Pakistani cricketers shamelessly showed a lack of sportsmanlike spirit as they validated the offensive chants by smiling and clapping in front of the spectators. Sahibzada Farhan became the first batter in the history of a T20I game to hit Jasprit Bumrah for three sixes in a match.

Sahibzada Farhan turned out to be the best Pakistani batter in the Asia Cup

Sahibzada Farhan top-scored for Pakistan in the Asia Cup, despite the Pakistan batters lacking form throughout the entire Asia Cup 2025. Farhan, the opener, was their highest scorer every time India faced Pakistan and scored two half-centuries as well.

However, Farhan was not their best player in the current series against South Africa. He missed out on runs on all the occasions despite some good starts initially. Even in this match, Sahibzada Farhan was dismissed for just 19 runs off 18 balls.

On Saturday, a clip began doing the rounds on social media where the fans can be heard shouting “Bumrah ke abbu (Bumrah’s father)” even as Farhan clapped.

Jasprit Bumrah is nearing 100 T20I wickets against Australia at Hobart

Jasprit Bumrah, the seasoned pacer from the Indian contingent, delivered as the sole pacer for India. He was supported by all-rounders Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube during the Asia Cup.

Bumrah picked up wickets at regular intervals but mostly bowled economical spells during the powerplay. He further picked 2 more wickets against Australia in the second T20 match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Jasprit Bumrah currently has 98 wickets for India and is just 2 wickets away from entering the 100-wicket club in T20I cricket, the second Indian player to do so.
