With the IPL mega auction around the corner, 574 players have been listed for Mega Auction, which will be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on November 24 and 25.
A total of 366 Indian players have been selected in the auction, 48 capped and 318 players who are yet to represent the country.
There are a plethora of auction names across the nation. A total of 33 players registered with Delhi and Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) have been selected for auction, whereas the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) has 24 players from the JKCA.
But a state association (now Union Territory) which has seen an upsurge in the number of players making the final list is Jammu and Kashmir. Fifteen talented cricketers from Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) have been shortlisted for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 player auction, which is notably more than Bengal (13), Madhya Pradesh (14) and Saurashtra (6).
IPL Auction 2025; J&K sees growth in Auction Entries
There is a significant rise in the number of players who have been shortlisted in the auction list. In the IPL 2024 auction, there were 9 players who were shortlisted from the J&K, while a total of 10 players were shortlisted in the IPL 2022 mega auction.
This marks another key moment for Jammu and Kashmir, which has been steadily making a mark in the cricketing world, thanks to the performances of players like Umran Malik and Abdul Samad, who have already achieved recognition in previous IPL editions.
Among the shortlisted players, Rasikh Salam, who has prior IPL experience and recently impressed with the India A team, stands out as a strong contender for selection. His consistent performances have garnered attention from franchises looking to bolster their bowling lineups.
Umran Malik, Parvez Rasool, Rasikh are known IPL faces while Abdul Samad has also grown in statures at SRH in the past couple of seasons. A total of 8 J&K players have been selected by franchises over the years.
