To keep the body hydrated and remain healthy, it is important to drink the right amount of water daily. Our body contains about 60 percent water. Water is very important for our organs, muscles, and cells to function properly. Not drinking water causes dehydration in the body and this can cause many health related problems. It helps in removing toxins from our body. Water also plays an important role in controlling our body temperature. The body expels heat through sweat. If you do not drink water as per your body’s requirement for a long time, it can cause many health and skin related problems.
It is said that every person should make a habit of drinking at least 8 to 10 glasses of water a day. But have you ever thought about how much time it takes to hydrate the body after we drink water?
What do experts say?
Dr. MC Mishra, former director of Delhi AIIMS Told that after drinking water, the absorption process starts within 5 to 10 minutes, which is completed in one to two hours. It also depends on how and what kind of water you have drunk such as on an empty stomach, after eating something or whether you have drunk lukewarm or cold water. Besides this, this process depends on the condition of each body. The presence of urine is a sign that your body is adequately hydrated. The doctor told that the lighter the color of urine, the better it is. If its color is dark yellow, it means that the amount of water in the body is less.

If someone is dehydrated, the kidneys take some time to produce urine. Besides this, it also depends on the weather. In summer there is more sweating and less urine. Whereas in winter season there is less sweating and more urine. How long does it take for your body to get hydrated after drinking water depends on all these factors. It is also very important to have a balance of electrolytes along with hydration. Otherwise there may be deficiency of sodium or potassium in the body.
