Honda at a loss? Johann Zarco reveals RC213V’s weakest point; Manufacturer closes season with Jerez test next week

If Yamaha seems to be slowly finding its way, with small improvements to its bike and a slow but noticeable increase in competitiveness, the same doesn’t seem to be the case with Honda, which, judging by Johann Zarco’s words, still has a long way to go to become more competitive.

Zarco was present at the tests in Barcelona and believes that, once again in a direct comparison with the rival bikes, the RC213V is still a step behind, and there are some points that deserve extra work: ‘In general, and what we saw again in comparison with the other bikes, is that we need to improve the engine, which is one of the main points because we don’t have the fastest bike and it’s important that we work on that, to fight on the straight and to be able to have a good position for overtaking under braking’.

The Frenchman then explained another very important point, in which the bike seems to be lagging behind and which could mean a big evolution, while revealing that there are more tests in the year ahead:

– The weak point of our bike is the rear grip control, which is difficult to keep under control and we haven’t yet found something to take a step forward, and that could help us in acceleration and also in the braking area, which is the weak point. We’ll see. We have a test in Jerez, it’s going to be nice next week and then we’ll see in February.
