Varanasi News: Police have detained more than 50 workers during the Youth Congress rally in Varanasi. These people were gheraoing the PM’s parliamentary office on the issue of “Shut down SIR, remove unemployment”.
Varanasi. On Sunday, Uttar Pradesh Youth Congress (East Zone) organized a program of gherao on PM’s Parliamentary office against unemployment, SIR system and alleged vote theft on the issue “Vote Chor Gaddi Chhod, SIR Karoo, Berojgari Hatao”. During this, the administration including the Police Commissioner was seen to be strict. Congress workers were kept under watch at the Circuit House itself. When Congress workers tried to take out a rally forcefully, the police detained more than 50 workers and sent them to the police lines.
Police and many officers from many police stations were on the spot.
Youth Congress was going to go from Shastri Ghat to Kachari to the Prime Minister’s Parliamentary Public Relations Office at Ravindrapuri. As soon as information about the route was received, the administration became active and heavy security arrangements were deployed in the entire area. DCP Kashi Zone Gaurav Banswal, ACP Bhelupur Gaurav Kumar, police team of Bhelupur, Lanka, Chitaipur police stations and three platoons of PAC were present on the spot. Considering Guru Dham intersection as the most important point from security point of view, a foolproof plan was implemented there.
Strict action will be taken on violation of rules
Police Commissioner Mohit Aggarwal himself reached the spot regarding the siege by Youth Congress on PM’s parliamentary office in Ravindrapuri. He conducted a route march from Guru Dham intersection to the PMO office and inspected the security arrangements closely. During the inspection, a sub-inspector of Sigra police station was found on duty without body protector and pistol. On this, the Commissioner expressed strong displeasure and reprimanded him on the spot. The Commissioner reviewed the condition of helmets, protectors, batons and weapons of policemen deployed at four important points and warned several personnel on violation of rules.
Speaking to journalists, Commissioner Mohit Aggarwal said that no political organization can hold a rally or gherao without permission. The siege of the Prime Minister’s Public Relations Office is completely unconstitutional. Any such step against law and order will result in immediate arrest.
Action decided on negligence in safety standards
During inspection, some policemen deployed under PMO security were found without standard equipment. Calling it a serious mistake, the Commissioner directed that those who do not have safety equipment should be made available immediately. He said that answers would be sought from the concerned personnel and necessary action would be taken.
Youth Congress leaders say that they wanted to take out a peaceful march, but the police already foiled the program by imposing house arrest. National Youth Congress President Uday Bhanu Chib and many officials remained under police surveillance throughout the day.
