Major Sharma controversy
The family of Major Sharma had come forward alleging that some aspects of the Ranveer Singh movie bore relevance to the events that took place in his life. They also noted that the film was being promoted with the tagline “inspired by true events”.
Major Sharma’s parents — 77-year-old Sushila Sharma and 75-year-old Rajendra Prasad Sharma filed a lawsuit on November 28. They argued that the filmmakers used the life of their son as a “commercial commodity” without their or the army’s consent. Justice Sachin Datta, while disposing of the petition, asked the CBFC to consider the family’s worries before the completion of the certification process.
