Voting will be held on 230 seats in Madhya Pradesh and 70 seats in Chhattisgarh on Friday, November 17. Where 2533 candidates are trying their luck on 230 seats of Madhya Pradesh. At the same time, out of total 90 seats in Chhattisgarh, voting has taken place on 20 seats in the first phase on 7th November. Now in the second phase, voting will be held on 70 seats, for which 958 candidates are contesting.
The election campaign for Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh assembly elections ended today i.e. Wednesday at 6 pm. Candidates will now woo voters by door-to-door campaigning. On the last day of election campaign, candidates of other parties including BJP and Congress have given their full strength.
In the second phase, voting will be held on 230 seats in Madhya Pradesh and 70 seats in Chhattisgarh on Friday, November 17. Strict security arrangements have been made in view of voting.
On the last day of the campaign, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and Sachin Pilot took charge of the campaign, while senior BJP leaders from Prime Minister Modi to Amit Shah, Yogi Adityanath addressed the public meeting.
Voting amid tight security on 230 seats of Madhya Pradesh
Voting will be held in 230 areas of Madhya Pradesh on Friday, November 17. Polling will start at 7 am till 6 pm, while in the polling centers of Maoist-affected areas of Dindori, Balaghat, and Mandla districts, the voting process will start at 7 am till 3 pm.
State Chief Electoral Officer Anupam Rajan said that complete preparations have been made to conduct voting on 230 seats of the state in a fair and peaceful manner. The total number of voters in the state is more than 5 crore 60 lakh.
More than 65 thousand five hundred polling stations have been set up for these voters. A total of 2533 candidates are in the fray in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections, of which 2280 are men, 252 are women and one other (third gender) candidate.
According to the information given by the Election Commission, apart from 230-230 candidates of BJP and Congress, 181 candidates of BSP, 71 of Samajwadi Party and 1166 independent candidates are trying their luck in the elections.
958 candidates for 70 seats in Chhattisgarh
At the same time, campaigning in 70 assembly constituencies of the second phase of Chhattisgarh assembly elections came to a halt on Wednesday. There are a total of 958 candidates for these 70 seats. This includes 827 male candidates, 130 female candidates and one third gender candidate.
Election campaigning on public platforms will be stopped 48 hours before polling, but during this time candidates will be able to do door-to-door public relations.
During the second phase of voting, one crore 63 lakh 14 thousand 479 voters of Chhattisgarh will exercise their franchise. These voters include 81 lakh 41 thousand 624 men, 81 lakh 72 thousand 171 women and 684 third gender voters.
A total of 18 thousand 833 polling stations have been set up by the Election Commission in the entire state. Out of these, only women polling personnel will be posted in 700 Sangwari polling stations.
