Earth agar machine stopped after drilling 24 meters, rescue operation stopped

Today is the sixth day of Uttarakhand tunnel accident. 40 workers are still trapped inside the tunnel. To pull out the workers, steel pipes are being inserted from the American Earth Auger machine. So far 24 meters of pipe has gone inside, but the American Earth Auger machine used for rescue has been switched off. NHIDACL Director Dr. Anshu Manish Khalko said that due to the vibration of the machine inside the tunnel, the rescue work has been stopped, so that further debris does not fall. Work has also been stopped to give rest to the machine. Although he did not say that the machine was damaged, the work had been stopped only because the machine was vibrating.

Let us tell you that on Thursday, the 5th day after the accident, the American Earth Auger machine was working properly. A steel pipe was being inserted inside by making a tunnel in the debris. On Friday, the sixth day, the machine was used for rescue. By evening, when the machine had drilled 24 meters, suddenly it started vibrating, due to which the rescue work was stopped. Officials say that there is no fault in the machine. The machine has been stopped due to vibration in the tunnel. This deficiency will be removed soon.

Rescue operation will remain closed overnight

At present, rescue work may remain closed throughout the night. Rescue efforts are likely to start again from Saturday morning. According to NHIDACL officials, only 24 meters of pipes have been pushed so far. After this the second pipe was also being pushed. Meanwhile a technical glitch occurred. As a backup, another machine has been airlifted from Indore, which will reach Silkyara by Saturday morning.
