The number of passengers traveling in Delhi Metro is in lakhs. CCTV footage has been installed in all metro stations for the safety of passengers, despite this the number of crimes against women, theft and many other crimes is increasing. In such a situation, Delhi Police will deploy undercover police officers at most metro stations for the safety of passengers. This initiative of Delhi Police will work on curbing criminals.
For this, a total of 32 metro stations like Delhi’s busiest metro stations like Rajiv Chowk, Kashmiri Gate, Anand Vihar, Vishwavidyalaya have been included in the list, where undercover police officers will be deployed and will identify criminals with their sharp eyes. After this step, the security of passengers will increase.
Data extracted from 190 stations
Delhi Police checked the data of 190 metro stations for security review. Through this data, the police identified those metro stations of Delhi where the number of criminal incidents is high. In such a situation, the police selected 32 metro stations for deployment of undercover officers. Along with this, work will also be done to increase the number of women police patrolling at 16 special metro stations. In such a situation, women’s safety will be taken special care of by Delhi Police.
These special patrolling police teams are supervised by DCP rank officers. There has been an increase in the number of incidents of theft of belongings of passengers travelling in the metro, and cases of molestation and harassment of women have also increased. Therefore, undercover officers of Delhi Police will be deployed.
Joint Police Commissioner Vijay Singh said that Delhi Police will try its best to ensure that passengers feel safe while travelling in the metro. He said that undercover officers will be deployed at metro stations to mingle with the passengers so that criminals can be caught easily.
