The team of Jeethu Joseph`s has wrapped the shoot of the film that stars Mohanlal in the lead. The official handle of the page took to social media to announce the wrap of the film`s shoot.
The film was shot in the Thodupuzha region in Kerala, where the first two films was also shot. It may be recalled that Mohanlal had completed shooting for his portions for the film on Monday. A video clip of the actor cutting cake in front of the entire unit to celebrate the completion of his portions had gone viral.
Drishyam 3 shoot wrapped
On Tuesday, the official handle of Drishyam shared a picture of the unit`s clapboard with the phrase `Pack Up`. Sharing the image, the page wrote, “It`s a wrap Drishyam3”.
It may be recalled that had begun work on this film on the eve of receiving Indian cinema’s highest honour, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award.The film, which is the third instalment in the highly rated franchise, was formally launched with a traditional puja ceremony that was held at a law college near Kochi in September this year.
The Drishyam films have achieved cult status in Indian cinema for their gripping storytelling, intricate suspense, and Mohanlal’s acclaimed performance. The first film, released in 2013, set new benchmarks in Malayalam cinema, while its sequel, released in 2021, drew record-breaking viewership both in theatres and on streaming platforms. According to the producers, `Drishyam 3` is slated for release in March 2026, and expectations are already sky-high among audiences across India and abroad.
Jeethu on what to expect from Drishyam 3
After the massive success of Drishyam and Drishyam 2, expectations around Drishyam 3 are naturally sky-high. , however, remains grounded and focused on storytelling rather than spectacle.
“I don’t make Drishyam for its twists. The story has to grow organically,” he explains. “The second part took place six years after the first and showed how the family, the police, and the case evolved. In Drishyam 3, we continue exploring what happens to each of these characters as time passes. Georgekutty is getting older – is he as confident as before? That’s what I’m interested in.”
The filmmaker recalls an online comment made after he announced completing the script for Drishyam 3, “Someone wrote that it should be better than the extraordinary Drishyam 2. I replied that I’m not making Drishyam 3 to beat Drishyam 2 – I’m making it to tell what’s happening with Georgekutty’s family. Their life could go in many directions; I’ve chosen one and followed that.”
