Delhi residents will get subsidy on electric vehicles for many more days

Just before the assembly elections in Delhi, Chief Minister Atishi has made a big announcement. People will continue to get subsidy on electric vehicles for some more time. At the same time, to promote the purchase of electric vehicles, the state government has also said to give some more concessions on them.

Delhi faces heavy pollution every winter. Therefore, the government here has been continuously giving subsidy on EVs. To promote electric vehicles across the country, the central government gives subsidy first under the FAME scheme and now under the PM E-Drive scheme. At the same time, state governments also give subsidy on EVs at their level.

Subsidy will be available till March 2025

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi has announced that the subsidy on electric vehicles was temporarily stopped. But now it will remain intact till 31 March 2025. The government has taken this decision keeping in mind the air quality of Delhi.

He said that the air quality in the capital should improve and people should be encouraged to buy electric vehicles. In view of this, a decision has been taken to extend the subsidy scheme. However, this decision of the Delhi government is also being linked to the elections, because assembly elections are possible in Delhi before March next year.

Registration fees will also be waived

Not only this, the Delhi government has also announced to restart the discount on registration of electric vehicles. People get exemption from road tax on registration of EV, now it will start again.

Chief Minister Atishi says that currently 12 percent of the total vehicles registered in Delhi are electric. This is the highest in the country and double the national average of 6 percent.
