Deepti Sharma is having quite a day to remember. While the Indian all-rounder achieved her career-best number 2 ranking in One-Day Internationals (ODI), she even made it count on the field in the Indian Women’s cricket team series decider against New Zealand women.
Deepti eventually finished with figures of 3/39 in her 10 overs but other than her contribution with the bat, she took an exceptional catch of her own bowling to send back Isabella Gaze off 25 off 49 balls.
It all happend on the fourth ball of the 39th over. Deepti bowled a delivery angling away from the batter which seemed to put Gaze in a spot who wasn’t sure whether to hit it straight or go towards mid on and ended up getting a leading edge. Deepti took a few steps towards her left before completing a neat catch, forcing Gaze to walk back to the pavilion. The video of Gaze’s dismissal has gone viral on social media.
