In Varanasi, SIT raided Toto charging stand in Sujabad and recovered 30 thousand cough syrup vials containing codeine. Big police action on the network of Shubham Jaiswal and Azad Jaiswal, big revelation of cough syrup smuggling.
Sujabad area of Varanasi is in discussion these days, but the reason is not a common news. An ordinary Toto charging stand located in the middle of the city, was hiding a more dangerous secret inside than it looked from the outside. Hidden from the public eye, an illegal game worth crores of cough syrup containing codeine was going on from this very place – in which when the investigation started, the layers kept getting revealed and an organized network came to the fore, which surprised even the administration.
Big revelation of cough syrup smuggling in SIT action
A strict campaign is being run across the state against smuggling of cough syrup containing codeine in Varanasi. An IG level SIT has already been formed, and under the same investigation, Varanasi Police, in a major action in Sujabad area, has recovered 30 thousand vials. The value of the recovered syrup is said to be around Rs 60 lakh.
The SIT conducted the raid late in the evening, when the team received information that a huge quantity of illegal syrup had been stocked under the cover of Toto charging stand. Two people have been detained from the spot and interrogation has been started.

Indications of being linked to the main accused
In this action taken under the leadership of ADCP Saravanan T, the investigation team got some important clues. Recently, the car of accused Azad Jaiswal, named in the case of recovery of cough syrup worth Rs 2 crore in Rohania Gym, has been recovered from this premises. This premises has been said to belong to Manoj Kumar Yadav, who is considered close to the main accused Shubham Jaiswal.
After the recovery of the vehicle, it is a clear indication that there exists a direct connection between Azad and Shubham Jaiswal and this entire network is connected to each other in a very organized manner. A case is already registered against Azad in Rohaniya police station.
Smuggling network feared to grow bigger
According to officials, this seizure made in Sujabad is just the beginning. Investigating agencies believe that this network of cough syrup smuggling is very big and many more names may come to light in the coming days. The recovered vehicle, documents and syrup stock are being closely examined. This action is considered to be a major link in the most important and ongoing operation against illegal drug smuggling in Varanasi.
Cough syrup was brought from Himachal
Investigation has revealed that this codeine containing cough syrup of the laboratory company was brought directly from Himachal Pradesh for smuggling to Varanasi. Police have confirmed that two people have been arrested and the search for the remaining members of the network is ongoing.
