Sheopur (Madhya Pradesh) [India], October 24 (Desk): A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) nominee from Vijaypur assembly constituency for the upcoming by-election, Ramniwas Rawat filed his nomination papers in the presence of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Thursday.
State BJP president VD Sharma, Madhya Pradesh Assembly speaker Narendra Singh Tomar and others were also present on the occasion.
Vijaypur assembly seat in Sheopur district fell vacant after Rawat, who was sitting MLA from the seat from Congress party, quit the grand old party and joined the BJP amid the Lok Sabha elections in April this year. Currently, Rawat is the Forest and Environment Minister in the cabinet of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav.
After the nomination, CM Yadav told reporters, “Today, I have come here to participate in the nomination of Ramniwas Rawat for Vijaypur assembly seat by-election. The way we see the trust of the public here, they will definitely elect him (Rawat) for the development of their area.”
He further urged people to exercise their franchise in support of Rawat.
CM Yadav also held a roadshow in support of Rawat and before that he offered prayers at the famous Hanuman Temple located in Vijaypur in the district.
In a post on X, CM Yadav wrote, “Today, I participated in a roadshow organised in support of BJP candidate Ramniwas Rawat for the Vijaypur assembly constituency by-poll in Sheopur district and requested the people to cast a historic vote in favour of the Bharatiya Janata Party.”
“The unprecedented love and affection received in the roadshow is proof that in this by-election, the people of Vijaypur are going to vote for BJP and for the welfare policies of the double engine government,” he further wrote.
Two assembly seats in Madhya Pradesh, Vijaypur assembly seat in Sheopur district and Budhni seat in Sehore district will undergo a by-poll next month on November 13.
Budhni assembly seat is the bastion of senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and it got vacant as he got elected as Member of Parliament (MP) from Vidisha constituency in the recently concluded general election 2024.
According to the Election Commission of India (ECI), nomination papers will be filled for the by-poll from October 18 to October 25. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be done on October 28. Nomination papers can be withdrawn till October 30. Voting will be held on November 13 and counting of votes will be done on November 23. (Desk)
