The Government of Bihar is taking several far-reaching steps to establish the state as an important hub in India’s textile and leather industries. The government is emphasizing on sustainability. In this context, recently a high level team of the Industries Department visited various cities of Tamil Nadu. The city is known for its efficiency and environment-friendly practices in textile industries.
The team, led by Industries Department Director Alok Ranjan Ghosh, aimed to interact with leading textile producers and experts from Tiruppur and other cities and learn about various developments and use of technology in the sector. Through interaction with experts the team learned about advanced technologies and processes being used in the textile industry.
Mission to implement successful model in Bihar
Emphasizing the importance of this visit and dialogue, Alok Ranjan Ghosh said, “Our visit to Tiruppur helped us gather all the information needed to implement this successful model in Bihar. Our aim is to create a conducive environment for the textile industry in the state through infrastructure, policy support and various types of incentive schemes and to give the state a new identity in this sector. This will also create many employment opportunities in the state.”
The team also expressed the government’s commitment towards the environment. The team paid special attention to those aspects that ensure environmental protection and are in line with the environment policy of the Government of Bihar. For this reason the delegation also visited Ranipet, Tamil Nadu to study the operation of a Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) plant.
Officials took technical information
Officials at Ranitec Common Effluent Treatment Plant highlighted its ability to make tannery waste water reusable and reuse 85% of it. Such innovative processes are very encouraging for the emerging leather sector of Bihar. The team of Industries Department of Government of Bihar and officials of Bihar State Pollution Control Board met Selvam, Executive Director of Council of Leather Exports (CLE), Chennai (Tamil Nadu) and discussed the opportunities for this industry in Bihar.
The Industry Department team also visited RK Industries, a 50-year-old textile manufacturing company that caters to leading global brands. Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority has recently allotted a 72,000 square feet plug and play shed to this company in Sikandarpur Industrial Area of Bihta in Patna.
