Something or the other is happening every day in Pakistan cricket since World Cup 2023. Pakistan’s performance under the captaincy of Babar Azam was very poor and the team failed to reach the semi-finals. Since then there have been major changes in the team. When Babar left the captaincy, the new chief selector and coach were also appointed. After everything has stopped, now another news has come from Pakistani cricket. After continuous neglect, the team’s experienced all-rounder Imad Wasim has announced his retirement.
34-year-old left-arm spin-allrounder Imad Wasim announced his retirement from international cricket on Friday 24 November. Imad, who played 121 matches for Pakistan including ODI and T20, issued a statement explaining his decision. He said that he was thinking about this decision for the last several days and this is the right time to leave international cricket. He thanked the Pakistan Cricket Board and the fans and said that his dream has been fulfilled by playing for Pakistan.
Hopes ended in times of change
After the bad situation in the spin department of the Pakistani team, there was speculation that Imad could return to the team for the World Cup, which could prove important in Indian conditions. However, due to bad relations with Babar Azam, its expectations were low and this is what happened. Now Babar himself has separated from the captaincy of the Pakistan team, but seeing the new changes, Imad himself decided not to come in the way and wished the new coaching staff and captains all the best for the future.

Relations with Babar had deteriorated
Imad played his last international match for Pakistan against New Zealand in April this year. This was his last T20 International. His bad relations with Babar are also considered to be a major reason for his leave from the Pakistani team. Both of them were once a part of Karachi Kings in Pakistan Super League, where Karachi won the title under the captaincy of Imad. Then after Babar became the captain of Pakistan, suddenly he was also made the captain of Karachi, from where the relationship between the two started deteriorating.
How was your international career?
Only after this, Imad Wasim was removed from first ODI and then T20. Left-arm orthodox spinner Imad took 44 wickets in 55 ODIs and 65 wickets in 66 T20s. Batting with his left hand, he scored 986 runs in ODI and 486 runs in T20. Imad continues to play in different T20 and T10 leagues of the world.
