Auspicious times start from today, business worth Rs 1 lakh crore will be generated from 4 lakh weddings in Delhi!

The festive season started with the beginning of Navratri in Delhi and the country on 22 September. After doing good business during the Diwali festivals, now traders across the country are busy preparing with the hope of big business in the upcoming wedding season, today the wedding season is starting from 1 November.

According to the Chamber of Trade and Industry CTI, the apex organization of traders and entrepreneurs, this time in the wedding season, it is estimated that 45 lakh weddings will take place across the country, due to which a business of Rs 5 lakh crore is expected across the country. At the same time, a business of Rs 1 lakh crore is expected from 4 lakh weddings in Delhi.

CTI Chairman Brijesh Goyal and General Secretary Gurmeet Arora said that after the cut in GST rates, there has been a big change in the purchasing behavior of consumers and they are now giving more preference to buying Indian products than foreign goods.

The effect of ‘Vocal for Local’ is visible

The ‘Vocal for Local Weddings’ campaign has significantly reduced the presence of imported products like Chinese lighting, artificial decorations and gift accessories. Traditional artisans, jewelers and textile products are getting huge orders.

The wedding season 2025 is likely to create an impact of more than Rs 50 lakh, which will directly benefit decorators, caterers, florists, artists, transporters and people in the hospitality sector. MSME sectors like textiles, jewellery, handicrafts, packaging and logistics will also get a seasonal boost.

Expenses are divided between goods and services

According to CTI senior vice president Deepak Garg and vice president Rahul Adlakha, Rajesh Khanna, wedding expenses are divided between goods and services. In which mainly 10 percent is spent on clothes, sarees, lehengas, and other apparels, 15 percent on jewelery, 5 percent on electronics, electrical appliances, and consumer durables, 5 percent on dry fruits, sweets, and snacks, 5 percent on grocery and vegetables, 4 percent on gift items and 6 percent on other items.

On the other hand, in the wedding service sector, banquet halls, hotels, and wedding venues cost 5 percent, event management 3 percent, tent decoration 10 percent, catering and services 10 percent, flower decoration 4 percent, transportation and cab services 3 percent, photography and videography 2 percent, orchestra, music etc. 3 percent, light and sound 3 percent and other services 7 percent.
