Akshay Kumar donates Rs 1 crore to feed monkeys in Ayodhya: Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar has embarked on a noble endeavor to support the well-being of the burgeoning monkey population in Ayodhya, a holy town experiencing a surge in pilgrims visiting the newly inaugurated Ram Temple.
Recognising the need to ensure the health and cleanliness of the area, Akshay Kumar has donated INR 1 crore to the Anjaneya Sewa Trust, facilitating a daily feeding program for over 1,200 monkeys.
Moreover, Akshay Kumar has added a personal touch to this gesture by dedicating the feeding van to his parents and late father-in-law, legendary actor Rajesh Khanna, whose names are inscribed on the vehicle as a heartfelt tribute. This act is consistent with Akshay Kumar’s history of charitable endeavors, which include substantial donations to the Haji Ali Dargah and the PM CARES Fund during the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Hindustan Times, Akshay said, “When I heard about the issues faced by the monkeys at such a holy place, I immediately felt like contributing my bit. Writing my parents and my father in law’s name on the Van was an emotional decision. I feel somewhere up there they would feel proud of me. Given a choice, I would have written ‘Aruna, Hariom aur Rajesh Khanna di gaddi’ behind the van, in a true blue Punjabi style.”
According to a report in IndiaToday.in, Akshay Kumar earlier revealed that he made donations for the temple’s construction, but he didn’t reveal the amount.
The Ram Mandir, a Hindu temple complex in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, India, has begun construction on a site believed by many Hindus to be the birthplace of Lord Rama, a revered deity in Hinduism. Following its inauguration on January 22, 2024, through a consecration ceremony, the temple attracted an overwhelming response, with over 500,000 visitors on its opening day. The footfall remained impressive, with daily visitor numbers ranging between 100,000 and 150,000 a month after its opening, underscoring its significance among Hindu devotees.
