Bali had a boon that whoever fought with him would automatically get half of his power, due to which Ravana was defeated by Bali. Bali captured Ravana and gave him as a toy to his son Angad. Angad tied a rope around Ravana’s neck and started taking him around the city.
Seeing this condition of Ravana, the king of Lanka, the townspeople started making fun of him. Seeing his plight, Ravana’s pride vanished and he remembered his grandfather Pulastya Muni in his mind. Pulastya Muni appeared there and was very surprised to see such a condition of his mighty grandson.
When Pulastya Muni asked the reason for this, Ravana said, ‘O grandfather, I had become proud after defeating the gods, that is why I am in this condition today. I have become powerless even in front of this rope of Angad, son of Bali. Please free me from this and protect me.
Pulastya Muni said, ‘Bali was born from the semen of Devraj Indra but he is more powerful than his father. That is why you have been defeated by Bali. Bali’s death is written at the hands of Shri Ram ji, son of King Maharaj Dasharatha of Ayodhya, who is the incarnation of Lord Vishnu himself.
‘If you want to be free from the bondage of Bali, then you should fast on Akhurath Chaturthi. In earlier times, after killing Vritrasura, Devraj Indra also got freedom from sin by fasting. This will be the end of all your problems. Saying this, the sage went towards Pulatsya forest.
After this, Ravana observed a fast on Akhuratha Sankashti Chaturthi as per the advice of sage Pulastya, as a result of which he was immediately freed from the bondage of Bali and again went to his kingdom and started enjoying happiness. Just by listening to this story the problems of life automatically start reducing.
