A firecracker explosion in the Awadh-Assam Express at Bareilly Junction, creating a stampede; Passengers who jumped out of the window

A major accident was averted at Bareilly Junction in Uttar Pradesh. Panic spread due to a sudden loud explosion in a bogie of Awadh-Assam Express at the junction. There was chaos in the bogie after the explosion. The passengers came out of the bogie and started running. The situation became such that in a hurry the passengers broke the window of the train and started jumping. The passengers felt as if a bomb had exploded in the bogie. It is being told that a sack was kept in the bogie, in which the explosion occurred. Upon investigation it was found that firecrackers were kept in the sack.

In fact, a major accident was averted at Bareilly Junction on the second day of Diwali. As soon as 15910 Avadh-Assam Express running between Lalgarh to Dibrugarh stopped at the junction on Monday, there was a sudden loud explosion in coach number S-2. Hearing the sound of the explosion, there was a stampede in the bogie. Seeing the smoke coming out, passengers started running away from the train. GRP and RPF reached the spot. The fire brigade also reached the train after getting information about the fire.

The young man was carrying firecrackers in a sack

When GRP went inside the bogie and investigated, it was found that an unknown youth was illegally carrying firecrackers in a sack in the train. As soon as the incident happened, the youth jumped from the emergency window of the train and ran away. GRP is busy searching for the youth. It was fortunate that there were no casualties. Some passengers immediately threw the sack out of the train, thereby averting a major accident. Some passengers have suffered minor injuries after falling on the platform while jumping out of the window in a hurry.

After the incident, the train was stopped on the platform for about 45 minutes. The train was dispatched after checking all the coaches. At present, a search is on for the passenger traveling under the berth where the bag was found. Here, apart from CO First Shweta Yadav, Chief Fire Officer Chandramohan Sharma reached the spot. Both the officers investigated the bag full of firecrackers.

Chief Fire Officer gave information

Chief Fire Officer Chandramohan Sharma said that information about fire in Awadh-Assam Express was received. On this, four fire brigade vehicles were immediately sent. Investigation revealed that firecrackers were kept in a sack in S-2 bogie. Probably someone might have put a burning beedi or cigarette on the sack, due to which the firecrackers caught fire. After the explosion, the passengers immediately threw the sack out of the bogie. There has been no casualty in the incident.
