The next-generation Toyota Hilux is set to make its India debut on July 28, 2026. Based on the body-on-frame IMV platform, the pickup truck will receive comprehensive changes inside and out, while retaining the existing engine setup. The all-new Hilux hints at the possible changes coming to the new-generation Toyota Fortuner, as both models share the same platform, powertrains and several components. The SUV’s all-new model is expected to have its world premiere in late 2026, followed by its India launch in early 2027.
Design Highlights
Similar to the new Hilux, the upcoming 2027 Toyota Fortuner will adopt a more evolved and sharper design language. The front fascia of the SUV is expected to be heavily inspired by the new Toyota Hilux, featuring a newly-designed honeycomb-pattern grille, sleeker LED headlamps and ‘TOYOAT’ badging on a black plastic trim. The front bumper will also be revised, while the LED DRLs and fog lamps housings will be repositioned.
Spy shots reveal that the new Frotuner will get a redesigned tailgate and slimmer wraparound taillamps. It might also get a light bar connecting the taillamps. However, the overall dimensions are expected to remain unchanged. The current-generation model measures 4,795mm in length, 1,855mm in width and 1,835m in height, while riding on a 2,745mm long wheelbase.
Interior & Features
The interior of the new 2027 Toyota Fortuner will be significantly more premium and feature-rich than the current model. Most of the upgrades will be similar to the new Hilux including a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a fully digital driver’s display.
Spy images have also confirmed that the next-generation Fortuner will be equipped with an ADAS suite (Toyota Safety Sense). Other key highlights might include a 360-degree camera, ventilated and powered front seats, a sunroof, wireless smartphone charging, and more.
Same Engine Options
For the Indian marekt, the new 2027 Toyota Fortuner is expected to retain the existing 2.7L petrol, 2.8L diesel and 2.8L diesel Neo Drive mild hybrid diesel powertrain options. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. Select variants will continue to be available with Toyota’s 4WD (four-wheel drive) system.
