London, July 18: The third and match between India and England is set to take place at Lord’s this Sunday. The three-match series is currently tied at 1-1, with both teams eager to claim victory.
Joe Root, the experienced English batsman, could pose a significant challenge for the Indian team.
Root has a remarkable record at Lord’s. In the 50-over format, he has played 11 innings at this venue, averaging 46 with a strike rate of 80, accumulating a total of 466 runs. He ranks sixth among the highest run-scorers at Lord’s.
He has scored one century and three half-centuries at this ground. Root has shown excellent form in the ongoing against India. In the first ODI, he played a stellar innings, remaining unbeaten with 76 runs, hitting six boundaries and one six.
In the second ODI, Root continued his impressive performance, scoring an unbeaten 99 runs off 133 balls, including nine fours, leading England to victory. Indian bowlers have yet to dismiss Root in this series.
The England team will hope that Root can maintain his strong form at Lord’s. In the second ODI, India batted first but was all out for 233 runs, while England chased down the target in 44.1 overs, losing six wickets. In the first match of the series, India defeated England by six wickets, successfully chasing down a target of 259 runs after England was restricted to 258.
