Honda filed the design patent for the ADV160 in May 2026 in our country. Since then, specualtions have been rife that the upcoming maxi-scooter will be launched in the Indian market to rival the likes of Hero Xoom 160 and Yamaha Aerox 155. Recently, Tsutsumu Otani, President, CEO and Managing Director of HMSI confirmed that the brand will introduce multiple premium models in India, including motorcycles, scooters and EVs. Hence, Honda ADV160 could be one of the models earmarked for a market launch in our country in the FY27.
Honda ADV160 maxi-scooter rides on 14-inch front and 13-inch rear wheels. The Japanese brand’s bigger maxi-scooters also come with a different front and rear wheel setup. For reference, the X-ADV is offered with 17-inch front and 15-inch rear units. Sitting on an underbone chassis, it gets telescopic front forks and dual-shock rear suspension.
The ADV160 tips the weighing scale at 133 kg, which makes it 7 kg heavier than the Aerox 155. However, the Xoom 160 remains the heaviest maxi-scooter in the segment with a kerb weight of 142 kg. The ADV160 boasts of 240 mm front disc and 130 mm rear drum brakes which are assisted by a single-channel ABS. The saddle height is pegged at 780 mm.

Honda ADV160 uses the same 157cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled petrol engine as the Airblade, albeit with higher power and torque figures of 16 bhp at 8,500 rpm and 14.7 Nm at 6,500 rpm, respectively. While the Airblade is a sleek and lightweight maxi-scooter, the ADV160 is an adventure tourer built for all-terrain riding. Honda has also patented the design of the Airblade maxi-scooter and WN7 electric motorcycle.
The maxi-scooter comes fitted with fatter and more grippy 110/130-section front and rear tyres as compared to the Airblade 160 which features a 90/100-section (F/R) tyre setup. Honda presently rules the scooter industry in the Indian market with the Activa, which comes with 110cc and 125cc engine options. The brand retails around 2 lakh units of the Activa each month in the local market.

Apart from the Activa, Honda’s scooter line-up in India also includes Dio which gets identical 110cc and 125cc engines. Honda Dio 110 is sold in two variants namely STD and DLX at price points of Rs 70,309 and Rs 82,362, respectively, in the country. Honda Dio 125 is offered in two trim levels namely STD and Smart at Rs 87,258 and Rs 92,208, respectively. All the prices mentioned before are ex-showroom, Delhi.
