Director Sai Rajesh has once again addressed the casting change in Chennai Love Story, indirectly reiterating that the film’s original heroine, Vaishnavi Chaitanya, chose not to wait for the project.
After the blockbuster success of Baby, Sai Rajesh and producer SKN initially planned to reunite Anand Deverakonda and Vaishnavi Chaitanya for Chennai Love Story. However, the project eventually went on floors with Kiran Abbavaram and Sri Gouri Priya in the lead roles. The film is slated for release on July 24.
Speaking about the change, Sai Rajesh, now working as writer and producer for this film, confirmed that the film was indeed conceived with a different lead pair. However, he said the project got delayed during the pre-production stage.
“When I commit to a project, I stay with it even if it takes two or three years. That’s my approach. But not everyone thinks the same way,” he said.
He added that some actors prefer to move quickly from one project to another and cannot afford to wait indefinitely. “In such situations, we have to move ahead with other actors,” he explained.
Although Sai Rajesh did not mention Vaishnavi Chaitanya by name, his remarks have once again fueled the discussion that she was unwilling to wait for the project because of the delays.
