Jana Nayagan remains one of the most delayed films in the history of Tamil cinema. The biggie was originally promoted as Thalapathy Vijay’s final film before he ventured into politics. Now, he is the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, yet the film is still awaiting its theatrical release.
A few days ago, reports suggested that the movie would release on July 24, 2026. However, the film’s co-producer and Vijay’s personal secretary, Jagadish Palanisamy, has now confirmed that Jana Nayagan will hit theatres on July 23, 2026.
Fans are eagerly awaiting the official announcement poster. There were also reports that the film recently underwent re-censorship after a few new scenes were added to the final cut. Having received an ‘A’ certificate, the film has already generated immense hype, and a powerful trailer is expected to amplify the buzz further.
Directed by H Vinoth, this political drama stars Pooja Hegde as the female lead, while Mamitha Baiju, Bobby Deol, and others play pivotal roles. Anirudh Ravichander has composed the music, and KVN Productions has bankrolled the film.
