Vaishno Devi Yatra News: Maa Vaishno Devi Yatra was also postponed on the 13th day due to heavy rains and landslides in Jammu and Kashmir. Devotees are waiting for darshan in Katra. An inquiry committee has been formed after the death of 34 devotees in the accident.
Vaishno devi yatra suspended: The shadow of crisis on the path of devotion and faith is still dominated. Thousands of devotees are waiting in Katra to see Maa Vaishno Devi, but the journey remained postponed on the 13th day due to continuous rains, landslides and routes in the Trikuta hills. The administration has made it clear that the pilgrimage will be restored only when the weather is favorable and the path is declared completely safe.
Long waiting of devotees and pain of incomplete devotion
A devotee from Kerala said, “I have been waiting here for two days. People are saying that maybe after 15 days the path is open. The mind is sad, but I will not return home without seeing my mother.” At the same time, another devotee Arun said, “The yatra has stopped because many people lost their lives in the accident. I am praying that the weather improved and the rain stopped so that you can get good luck of darshan.”

Accident in Adhikavari on 26 August, 34 devotees lost their lives
Significantly, on August 26, there was a landslide after heavy rains near Adkuvari. 34 devotees were killed and many were injured in this accident, which came around 3 pm. After this, the yatra was postponed. The accident occurred near Inder Prastha Bhojalaya, which is a 12 -km long climb from Katra to Mata’s building.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha constituted a high level inquiry committee
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has formed a high level committee to investigate this tragedy. Jammu Divisional Commissioner and Inspector General of Police have also been included in this committee headed by Additional Chief Secretary of Water Power Department, Shain Kabra. As per the order, the committee has to submit its report within two weeks. In this, along with review of the causes of the accident, rescue and relief operations, such measures will have to be suggested to prevent such accidents in future.
Village cut in Doda due to cloudburst and flood, army built a bridge
Meanwhile, cloudburst and floods in Bhadarwah area of Doda district cut the contact of villages. In view of the situation, 4 Rashtriya Rifles Unit of the Army restored the movement of people by building a temporary bridge within 18 hours.
