Chennai Super Kings (CSK) head coach Stephen Fleming has stepped down after coaching the team for 18 years. This decision was announced by the Chennai Super Kings franchise today.
Stephen Fleming first joined the CSK franchise as a player in 2008 and became the team’s head coach in 2009.
Chennai Super Kings has won five IPL titles and two Champions League T20 titles under his supervision. The franchise was one of the most successful franchises in IPL history.
During his announcement to step off, he thanked the franchise and said that being the head coach of CSK was the topmost level honour in his entire career. He said he will always have a special place in his heart for the team.
“Eighteen years is a lifetime in sport, and I leave with nothing but gratitude. My time with Chennai Super Kings has been the privilege of my coaching career. I am proud of everything we have achieved. Together, we celebrated unforgettable victories, overcame difficult moments, and built memories that will stay with me forever. CSK will always be close to my heart, and I will be cheering the team on for years to come.”
After the announcement, CSK management also took the initiative to thank the head coach for his dedication and leadership over the years.
His signing off decision as the head coach of CSK comes after the team failed to reach the IPL playoffs for the last three seasons.
