CISF DG Praveer Ranjan inspects security amid Amarnath Yatra 2026

Director General (DG) of the  , Praveer Ranjan, on Saturday reviewed the security arrangements for the ongoing Amarnath Yatra during a visit to the Nunwan base camp in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.

As per the officials, the CISF DG was accompanied by Additional Director General (North) Sudhir Kumar and other senior officers of the force.

During the visit, Ranjan conducted a comprehensive assessment of the overall security framework at the base camp, including deployment plans, access control measures, communication networks, surveillance systems, medical support, and coordination among the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), Jammu and Kashmir Police, civil administration, and other stakeholders.

As part of the inspection, Ranjan visited key security installations, including check posts; the communication center operated by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF); Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs); Quick Action Teams (QATs); the CCTV control room; the Joint Police Control Room (JPCR); and logistics facilities.

The DG also reviewed anti-sabotage measures, area domination plans, crowd management strategies, route security, and the preparedness of security agencies to respond swiftly to any emergency during the annual pilgrimage.

Besides inspecting operational infrastructure, Ranjan also interacted with CISF personnel, visiting jawan barracks and pilgrim camps. He also met health workers and women personnel deployed on duty, appreciating their commitment and motivating them to continue maintaining  .

High-level security meeting

After inspecting various security measures at the Amarnath Yatra, a high-level security review meeting also took place. As per the officials, the meeting was attended by Praveer Ranjan along with ADG CISF Sudhir Kumar, Inspector General of Kashmir Operations Sector (KOS) Vineet Brijlal, CRPF Inspector General Gyanendra Kumar Verma, ITBP Inspector General Akun Sabharwal, CISF DIG (North Zone-2) M.K. Yadav, CRPF DIG Ashish Bharti, Anantnag Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Amod Nagpure, along with other senior officials.

During the meeting, the DG CISF appreciated the professionalism and dedication displayed by the personnel deployed for the pilgrimage. He stressed the need to maintain a high level of operational readiness, vigilance, and seamless inter-agency coordination throughout the Yatra.

Ranjan also directed all personnel to strictly adhere to  , remain alert at all times, and ensure the safety, security, and convenience of pilgrims undertaking the annual pilgrimage.

Commending the commitment of the forces, the CISF chief expressed confidence that all security agencies would continue to discharge their responsibilities with utmost professionalism, ensuring the smooth, safe, and incident-free conduct of the Amarnath Yatra.
