UP New Petrol Rule 2025: No helmet, no fuel ‘campaign will be applicable in Uttar Pradesh from 1 September. Bike riders without helmet will not get petrol. The government aims to increase road safety, reduce accidents and ban the sale of fake helmets.

Up petrol pump helmet rule: The Uttar Pradesh government has taken a big decision regarding road safety. The ‘No Helmet, No Fuel’ Abhiyan will be started in the state from 1 September 2025. Under this, bike riders will not get petrol without a helmet at the petrol pump. The government believes that this step will prove to be important in reducing the number of deaths in road accidents and making people habit of wearing helmets.

Helmet industry supported, expressed concern over

Rajiv Kapoor, president of the two-wheeler helmet manufacturing Association of India (2WHMA), has welcomed the government’s decision. He said that this step will strengthen road safety, but the increasing sales of fake helmets can question the success of this campaign.

According to Kapoor, helmets sold for just Rs 110 in the market are fake and extremely weak. These helmets, which are broken in minor shock, can increase the danger rather than saving life. He informed that about 95% helmets are being sold in areas like UP, Ghaziabad, Loni and Delhi.

Fake helmet is increasing threat

A report has revealed that about 70% of the helmets sold in Delhi are fake. Investigations found that they fail completely even in a mild accident, while the real ISI mark helmets prove to be strong and durable. This means that wearing fake helmets reduces the chances of saving life in the accident.

How will the fake helmet be stopped?

Experts suggest that bike companies should make two ISI certified helmets with each vehicle mandatory. Its price should be added to the price of the vehicle so that people avoid buying separate fake helmets.

In addition, the Central and State Governments together will have to strictly implement the Motor Vehicle Rule 138F, under which it is necessary to sell helmets with every two -wheeler. There has also been a demand to impose FIR and heavy fine on those who make and sell fake helmets.

Awareness is the real solution

Experts believe that along with tightening the law, it is very important to make people aware. Constant campaigns have to be carried out to give information about the difference between real and fake helmets. Initiatives like ‘Mission Save Lives’ and media coverage will prove to be helpful in explaining the importance of helmets to people.

Government hope- road safety will be stronger

After this rule, which has come into force from 1 September 2025, the government hopes that people will become more responsible for wearing helmets. Also, road safety rules will be followed strictly, so that the number of deaths in accidents can be reduced.
